I've never been the studious type. Sure, I'm attending college now, but that doesn't prove anything. I may let my professors boss me around, but that doesn't mean I like it.
The thing is, I'm only here because this is where my parents expect me to be. They expect me to be a good student who earns the highest scores, and writes the best essays. I don't like it, but I still do it. I don't have a choice. I belong to a conservative Chinese family; I just so happen to be born in America. Failing to obey my parents' wishes will put me in a bad light. They might even disown me! I've relied on my parents all my life, that I honestly don't know how to function without them. How will I support myself if I decide to go against their wishes?

“Filial piety” is a very important value to my family. Filial piety is a person's love and respect for his parents and ancestors. No matter what happens, family must come first. In my own way, I show filial piety by obeying my parents' wishes for my future.
